A retired teacher’s little corner of the internet
Good questions deserve useful answers.
I spent 24 years teaching, and I still love helping people figure things out. So now I make free calculators for everyday decisions, real shopping problems, and the occasional wonderfully odd question. Have a look around.
A real person behind these little tools
I still like a good question.
Teaching gave me a reason to get up and help somebody every day. Retirement’s different. This is my way of keeping that part going: listening to the problems people run into, building something useful, and explaining it without making things more complicated.
Some links may help support my retirement, but the tools are free, and I hope they save you a bit of time or frustration. Here’s the story behind the site →

Shopping helpers that do more than guess
Trying to choose what to buy, fix, or keep?
These came from the kinds of everyday buying questions people actually ask. Work out whether to repair an appliance, find an air purifier for your room, estimate a dehumidifier’s electric bill, or choose a vacuum or dish rack that fits.

Inspired by a real shopping question
Why is picking a dish rack so tricky?
Someone’s question about rust, cramped counters, and a dish rack that actually lasts made me revisit this one. Answer four quick questions, then see what I’d check before buying.
Choose your next rabbit hole
Every one is free to try. No account, no complicated setup.
Come for the answer. Stay for the next question.
Each calculator includes a quick explanation of how its numbers work. We use estimates when exact figures aren’t possible and show our assumptions. Some tools help you shop smarter. Others exist just because they’re fun.
